RIP Cohost 2024. You were the best social media site to have ever been done. Long live eggbug. If you're seeing this in the future, on some archive, be kind to others. It's the only way things get better.

I haven't played it in 15 years or so, but it was kickin rad even at the time when I was simultaneously playing Mass Effect 1.

Considering the games that have been released since (Mass Effect 2 & fucking 3, Star Control: Origins, etc.), it may be even more baller today than it was back then.

Somehow, the music combined with the fact that the on-screen dialogue with aliens STARING AT YOU CONSTANTLY, animated to suggest they're just watching you and waiting, is SO DISCONCERTING.

It makes the game feel so alien to me, which is HUGE for the game's style.

Love this game.

Had to do low-effort ffxiv static prog diagrams in MSPaint today

For the completely fictional, optional mechanics in the roleplay event I've been hosting the last few days. Because they're so confusing we're literally having to discuss them like real fucking prog.

I am ecstatic.

When you leave a mission in Helldivers 2, in a squad, feeling exhausted, because the five minutes it took to extract were the most harrowing Benny Hill bullshit you've ever experienced, being relentlessly chased by a conga line of giant exoskeleton-sized Terminators with Chainsaws For Arms

I don't feel badass. I feel like we barely scraped through and it was hilarious. Getting mortar'd by my own men is fucking hilarious. Constantly walking into our own minefield. Getting squashed by drop pods. Ragdolling off a ridiculous dive. Instantly vaporizing the head of a squadmate because he strafed into my line of machine gun fire.

The punchline of the satire is in the gameplay, and I think it works.
